Bayside City Council: Strategic Asset Management Module

Mar 31, 2014 by     Comments Off    Posted under: Asset Management

Bayside City Council has been using the Authority Asset Management System(AM) since 2007.  This system provides a comprehensive framework for managing all classes of assets consistently and sustainable.  The AM system is a key component of the Authority Enterprise Software Suite thereby having real time integration to Authority Financials, Customer request Management, Land Information System, and so on.  This approach provides an enterprise asset management solution that enables the capture and management of asset information into a single database environment (ie no data duplication),

The AM system provides facilities to manage the asset lifecycle from planning to disposal.  The whole of life costs including reactive and proactive maintenance costs, operating costs, depreciation, capital costs and income are associated with assets.  These can be presented as Actual Life to Date, Actual Year to Date and Projected Whole of Life costs.

In October 2013 Bayside Council began the implementation of a new Strategic Asset Management module (SAM) which will enable the organisation to define service levels, deterioration curves and treatments.  Optimised Decision Making (ODM) capability is provided to model selected data over future years with budgets per year.  The modelling function allows for “what if” analysis using multiple versions/budgets of the model.  Recommended capital works can be sorted according to risk, criticality and other factors.
