Justin Hinch’s article, summarising his Municipal Engineering Foundation Scholarship Study Tour Report in 2008 of municipalities in USA, Sweden and the UK, appears in the Public Works Engineering Journal February/March Edition on pages 58-61.  The report provides public works engineers with information on the infrastructure being implemented for the reuse of stormwater and details how stormwater management systems may have to be adapted to address the impacts of climate change.  The full report can be accessed via the Municipal Engineering Foundation Victoira’s website.  Justin is a Senior Civil Engineer at Mansfield Shire Council and is active in the IPWEAvic North-East Region.

 

The Februrary/March 2010 edition of Public Works Engineering Journal contains an article entitled Determining Service Levels for Local Roads written by Jon Aujard, IPWEAvic Regional Convenor for Goulburn-Murray Region and Assets and Planning Executive Manager at Shire of Campaspe.

In an effort to decrease traffic accidents at intersections Gary Lauder shares an idea for helping drivers move along smoothly: a new traffic sign that combines the properties of “Stop” and “Give Way” — and asks drivers to be polite.  Would it work???
