The Victorian Auditor General’s Office released a report on Tendering and Contracting in Local Government on 24 February 2010. The audit examined a sample of contracts from 5 municipalities. The summary report recommeds:
- Councils should strengthen the application of probity standards in procurement
- Councils should strengthen oversight and monitoring of procurement
- Local Government Victoria (LGV) should review and enhance guidance to councils on strategic procurement in consultation with stakeholders. This should include amending the Local Government Regulations in certain areas
